100 Masters by Creative Black Country and Impact Hub Birmingham invite you to join us for an inspiring afternoon at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Smethwick, where we will explore what the idea of ‘Mastery’ means in the local Sikh community and beyond,
The event will consist of a series of short talks by four local special guest speakers who are pioneers in their field of work followed by a conversation, highlighting diverse perspectives on the topic of Mastery and uncovering local masters in the process.
Special guests include, artist, educator and curator, Mohammed Ali, world renowned sculpting artist and athlete, Donald Brown, Randhir Singh Heer from Midland Langar Seva, writer, Rupinder Kaur and local councillor Preet Kaur Gill.
Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick runs a daily langar and anyone attending the event is more than welcome to eat at langar before the event starts.
Langar is the punjabi word for kitchen or common canteen and is used in the Sikh faith. Langars operate in most gurdwaras and they serve food to visitors regardless of faith for free.
To attend, all you need to do is book your free ticket here via Eventbrite.
The event is part of Southbank Centre’s Alchemy. A contemporary festival exploring the cultural links between the UK and South Asia – through live performance, talks, film, exhibitions, workshops and music.
