Wind down the week with yoga with Birmingham based Hatha and Ashtanga yoga instructor Claire Jukes.
Claire took up Yoga as a means to improve my physical health and well-being. She had always enjoyed keep-fit and running, but wanted to try something which would also improve her mental health. Claire wasn’t disappointed and took to yoga straight away. Her tutor at the time thought Claire was good enough to train as an instructor herself. (She wasn’t so sure!). However, after much cajoling and a great deal of trepidation, Claire travelled to India to train as a Ashtanga Instructor.
Whilst training, Claire was very homesick and missed her husband and two children terribly, but it was a very intense training, and with no distractions she was able to immerse herself fully in the course and, is now glad to say she left India a qualified instructor! Since then Claire has also undertaken a 200 hour course in Hatha Yoga and is a qualified teacher in Pregnancy and Post Natal. Claire is also a qualified 300hr vinyasa flow, Yin yoga as well as teaching classes to children and teens.
Having also learned much about the philosophy of yoga, Claire has found that through practice she has developed a serenity that she never knew existed. Her aim now is to pass on as much knowledge as she can to as many people as she can and especially those with special needs so that they may explore their own personal path of yoga and experience the joy and life-changing benefits that yoga can offer.
Claire will be hosting weekly yoga classes at Impact Hub Birmingham on Thursday afternoons (16.30-17.30). Classes cost £5 each and we ask you pay Claire direct at each class. There are yoga mats available at Impact Hub Birmingham but you are more than welcome to bring your own.
