Food for Thought with Jas and the Refugee Crisis

“I have some food in my bag for you
Not that edible food, the food you eat
No, I have some food for thought.
– Erykah Badu

Food For Thought is our take on afternoon tea, an opportunity to feed our bellies and minds every Thursday here at Impact Hub Birmingham.

This week’s conversation is on the refugee crisis and the work that Jas Odusanya has been doing in Ventimiglia, Italy supporting migrants and refugees.

With the western world becoming ever more threatened by the ‘influxes’ of illegal immigration, can Theresa May’s hopes of a hostile environment ever deter people away from our English shores?

Or are we just having to suffer the consequences of creating a British empire centuries before?

Have you ever looked at your ‘British’ documentation and thought – Millions of people have dreamt, fought and died to hold something like this?

At this Food for Thought we will discuss about the real impacts May’s and other western governments ‘hostile environments’ has on individual beings both economic migrants and refugees. A discussion inspired by personal experiences, current affairs and hopefully some guest speakers!

Lets find out what it really means to be an illegal immigrant!

Food for Thought is free for Impact Hub Birmingham members to attend and £5 for non members.
