Food for Thought with Collecting Birmingham (what should we put in the museum)

“I have some food in my bag for you
Not that edible food, the food you eat
No, I have some food for thought.
– Erykah Badu

Food For Thought is our take on afternoon tea, an opportunity to feed our bellies and minds every Thursday here at Impact Hub Birmingham.

Let’s gather around the workbench together as we discuss key themes and ideas each week, hosted by the community over tea and cake!

This week’s session is hosted by Charlotte Holmes. Charlotte leads on the Collecting Birmingham project at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

Charlotte will be talking about Collecting Birmingham: what should we put in the museum.

Collecting Birmingham is a unique collecting project that aims to significantly develop the relevance and accessibility of Birmingham’s museum collections. Now at the end of this three year project, Charlotte will discuss where the museum has worked with local communities to identify the objects and histories that the museum should acquire, and for the first time, these communities have had a direct influence on the acquisition of objects.

Charlotte will also be joined by Cedric Lewisohn. Cedric is guest curator on the project and he will be showing us the project’s latest and final collecting conundrum!

Food for Thought is free for Impact Hub Birmingham members to attend and £5 for non members.
If you’re not a member, you can book your ticket via Eventbrite here.

If you are interested in hosting a conversation or activity of your own at a future Food For Thought, please do get in touch!
