Creative Entrepreneurs Club

Join two Birmingham-based creatives in their quest to get better at business.

It can be challenging to build a business at the best of times, but as creatives we find it particularly difficult to find advice and processes that speak to us when it comes to entrepreneurship, as the love for our practice goes far deeper than the desire to make money.

Through a process of shared learning and collective motivation, the Creative Entrepreneurs Club aims to bring together those who want to build a long-lasting, sustainable business that they believe in, using their creativity, values and unique gift to the world. Drawing upon relevant resources such as The Creative Entrepreneur by Isa Maria Seminega, Soul Trader by Rasheed Ogunlaru, advice from The Design Trust and more, the club will act as a learning circle and support framework to move our creative businesses forward together, starting right at the beginning.

Louise Byng is a illustrator, designer and wordsmith. Continuing a tradition of illustration as social documentation, Byng’s work draws upon current affairs and philosophy to form an ongoing examination of modern culture. Having provided illustration and design services to cultural organisations, completed bespoke portrait commissions and worked on events and projects as a freelancer for the last 3 years, she is currently developing her own brand of contemporary illustrated goods under the moniker Byng Inc.

Shaheen Kasmani is a pattern designer and textile artist, fusing traditional and contemporary; paper and fabric. Her recent work includes Translation Games, a project for Queen Mary’s and King’s College University of London, a set of hand block printed art pieces and silk scarves for visiting dignitaries at the last World Muslim Leadership Forum conference, designs for SEP Jordan, unique bespoke pieces and hand printed greeting cards, and t-shirts to raise awareness about social justice issues.
