Over the last few months we’ve had lots of changes at Impact Hub Birmingham. As we move out of our founding year and into a new chapter, we have learnt lots about our growing community, our roles, our passions and the types of work we are engaging in, and there have been lots of changes of roles and responsibilities as part of that journey. We’ve welcomed some amazing people to the team over the last year, as well as seeing existing team members’ roles evolve.

A few important updates include letting you know our lovely Amy Martin has had a beautiful little boy and is now officially on maternity leave. We are also delighted to welcome Paige Jackson, Rory McGhie and Rosie Clements to the team who will be helping to produce #RadicalChildcare, developing our community and working on events production / partnerships respectively. We’re so excited to have them with us and can’t wait for their influence to be embedded in hub’s future projects, so please give them a huge welcome!

To celebrate these changes we thought it would be nice to check in and share an update of where all the team are at, what they are up to and what you may want to connect with them on. To reach out and get in touch with anyone, our contact information can be found on the Meet The Team page.

Paige Jackson

@P_S_Jack

About Me
Hi, I’m Paige aka PSJack and I am one of the newest members to join the Impact Hub Brum (IHB) team! This is a very exciting and pivotal time in my life, as I have recently returned home to Brummie after a 4 year grind and struggle trying to survive in the Big Smoke as a young aspiring artist. My usual response to “What do you do?” is that I am a multifaceted artist (I paint, write poetry, dance and play profusely); I have done everything from being a full time nanny to a theatre usher. If you were to ask me about my ethos, values and views I’d tell you that I am a social investor, one of my life’s missions is to collaborate, share and help as many people as I can. In a nutshell I am an eccentric intersectional activist.

What I‘m Working On
#RadicalChildcare – watch this space!

Ask Me About
Mental health; nannying/au-pairing, poetry, contemporary dance, indie films and Jamaica.

Rory McGhie
@rorymcghie

About Me
Hello I’m Rory and my role is Head of Coffee and Community here at Impact Hub Birmingham. If you have anything you want to talk through, want to be put in touch with other members or just fancy a chat and a coffee, I’m your guy! I’m usually found tinkering away in the coffee shop so the latter is very easy to do…

What I’m Working On
I’m looking into how we can create a better environment that embraces individual need and inclusively for both our members and the Hub team. If you have any ideas on how we can make our community stronger, please get in touch. I’m also looking at new coffee shop models that place people at their centre.

Ask Me About

What I‘m Working On
My main focus is on the ever growing cheeks of my young son Remy, but I can’t sit still for long and so whilst on maternity leave I’ll be thinking, plotting and researching things to do with #RadicalChildcare and especially exploring the feasibility of a ‘Children’s Hub’  – a multifaceted space that would combine an arts programme, nursery, social enterprise and community venue focused on celebrating, supporting and championing childhood in Birmingham.

@Dan_Zastawny

About Me
Hey, I’m Dan Zas and my role falls somewhere between partnerships projects and entrepreneurship support. I’ve been around since the early days of the Hub and lately am beginning to focus a bit more on growing projects with and for our members; putting Birmingham on the map through working alongside our global network (90+ Hubs across the world…) and developing some new incubation and acceleration programmes in the Hub so our community can continue to grow and prosper. As a Hub I believe we exist to be a platform for purpose and so if there’s anything at all you think we can help with just give me a shout and we’ll try and have a crack at it!

Ask Me About
Social entrepreneurship, funding, partnerships, project ideas you want to grow at Hub or to know a bit more about the global network! Also please do give me advice on how to raise a dog as my new pup (Ubu) is the source of many highs and many lows at the moment!

Imandeep Kaur (aka. Immy)
@ImmyKaur

About Me
Hi, I’m Immy, my role is Mission Birmingham. This sounds a bit grand, right? Well, it stems from our original mission to move Impact Hub Birmingham away from the traditional coworking + impact from members model and really experiment with how we become a town hall for social change in our city. So, I help to keep the ship moving in this direction, aiming to constantly question, experiment and keep our focus on being a positive force for change in the city, whatever that may look like.

When I am not at Impact Hub Birmingham, I am working on TEDxBrum, playing with my nieces and nephews, running, playing Hockey and putting most of this on Twitter & Instagram. I love @ParkRunUK too.

What I’m Working On
#RadicalChildcare, Improvement Hub with Birmingham City Council, TEDxBrum, TEDxSkoll, exploring new partnerships, strengthening IHB governance, policies & procedures, Hub 2.0 & the future.

About Me
Hi, I’m Nikki. My role at Impact Hub Birmingham is that of Hosting & Programming. On a day to day level, I’m probably one of the first people you’re likely to meet at the Hub as my role is very front facing. If I’m not chatting to members or e-mailing organisations about events, I’ll be looking at programming with individuals and organisations that are doing great work around social and cultural innovation.

When I’m away from the Hub, you’ll likely find me trying to find some reading time, trying (& failing) not to buy books that will end up on my ever growing TBR pile and being a full time weekend carer for my mum!

What I‘m Working On

Any kind of event that you’d like to host at Impact Hub Birmingham, particularly if your event challenges dominant narratives.
